Tiny Kickers is an introductory level division that will introduce the the players to the soccer ball, the field, and the most basic skills used in the game. It also aims at getting the kids comfortable in a team sport setting by getting them moving and having lots of fun.
  • Tiny kickers meets for an hour, 1 time a week on Sunday mornings throughout the season. The spring season typically runs late March through May 30th.

U6 / U8 / U10
  • At the U6 / U8 / U10 levels players participate in an in-house coed league. The in-house soccer program offered by Greentree Athletic Association is a recreational coed league for boys and girls between the ages of 4-10.
  • The Season runs mid March through the end of May with games usually starting the first weekend in April. It is typically an 8 game season and games are played on Sundays each week. In addition, teams will hold 1 sometimes 2 practices in the evening during the week.
  • Games are scheduled in-house amongst our GT teams as well as a few games against KO United teams representing Dormont and Castle Shannon and at some age groups we schedule games against Carlynton.

Our home fields are Wilson Field (above the swimming pool), Hale Park, and Aiken Field.

Away games are played at Beggs Snyder(Dormont), Reihl Park (Castle Shannon), and Carnegie Park(Carlynton).

Division Breakdown
All divisions are determined by the players birth year. In accordance with US Youth Soccer, a player's birth year is used to determine the player's soccer age (U6,U8, U10, etc). A birth year is January 1 to December 31 of the year in which they were born.

In addition, a calendar year in soccer is considered fall/spring, with eligible players moving up divisions in the fall. All players end up having 2 years (4 seasons fall/spring/fall/spring) in each division. This may cause some confusion due to a players actual age at the start fo the season, but rest assured your player will be properly placed according to these guidelines.

In addition, a calendar year in baseball is considered fall/spring, with age eligible players moving up divisions in the fall. All players end up having 2 years (4 seasons - fall/spring/fall/spring) in each division.

KOA
In agreement with DABA(Dormont) and CSYA(Castle Shannon) and in line with past practice please note that on rare occasions, due to low registration numbers or lack of coach volunteers, teams may be formed jointly between boroughs and play as a KOA team. In these instances players from GAA may be assigned to teams playing out of Dormont or Castle Shannon and vice versa, we may have some of their players come to us. This is extremely rare below the 12U level as our registration numbers have been strong, but has become more commonplace for our older players.

Please know, it is GAA’s first priority to keep all of our players here in GT and every effort will be made to have players play in the community in which they live.

Concession Stand Parent Volunteer Program:
As in previous seasons, each family is required to volunteer four hours(2 shifts) of time at our concession stand during the baseball/softball season. Without parent volunteers we are unable to open and operate the stand. It is a community effort and we appreciate your cooperation.

After registration closes and prior to receiving a uniform, each family must submit a volunteer check for $80 ($20 per volunteered hour).

Checks can be made payable to Green Tree Athletic Association and mailed to PO Box 16532 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15242 , C/O Julie Balcerek, GTAA Treasurer or they can be turned in to Baseball Commissioner Pete Lawrence when you come to pick up your uniform. Please write "Concession Stand" in the memo of the check.

This check is separate from registration fees . The check will not be cashed upon receipt and will be destroyed at the end of the season if four hours of volunteer time have been fulfilled. The check will be cashed if the family does not fulfill the four hours of volunteer time.

Families will be able to select their volunteer time slots and are not required to work the stand when their child is playing. We use SignUp Genius to manage the schedule and once games schedules are completed the SignUp Genius will be emailed to all baseball and softball families who registered for this season.

**All divisions are determined by the player's birth year.  Birth year is January 1 to December 31 of the year in which they were born. This may cause some confusion due to a players actual age at the start of the season, but rest assured your player will be properly placed according to these guidelines which are applied to softball leagues nationally.

In addition, a calendar year in softball is considered fall/spring, with age eligible players moving up divisions in the fall. All players end up having 2 years (4 seasons fall/spring/fall/spring) in each division.

KOA
In agreement with DABA(Dormont) and CSYA(Castle Shannon) and in line with past practice, please note that our 10U, 12U, and 15U Fastpitch softball teams will collectively play under the KOA banner. Due to low registration numbers the past several years, teams will be formed jointly between boroughs and play as KOA teams. Team selection will be handled by the commissioners from all 3 boroughs.

In these instances players from Green Tree may be assigned to teams playing out of Dormont or Castle Shannon and vice versa, we may have some of their players come to us. For the past several seasons we have used this model to help ensure that youth softball players across the district have a team to play on. The goal always being to keep the kids playing.

Please know, it is GAA’s first priority to keep all of our players here in Green Tree and every effort will be made to have players play in the community in which they live.
